Terms of Service
Effective: April 24, 2026
In plain language
Use FamCove to coordinate your household. Don't use it to harass anyone, store anyone else's data without their consent, or substitute the app for a lawyer. We can change our service over time. Your subscription is billed by Apple or Google, not us.
1. The agreement
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and FamCove, Inc. ("we"). By tapping "Create account" you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't accept them, don't use the app.
If you're using the app on behalf of an organization, you represent that you're authorized to bind that organization. The app is built for households, not businesses — there's no enterprise tier today.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal guardian of the household you create. Children do not have their own accounts; data about a child is entered and controlled by an adult guardian.
We do not knowingly accept registrations from users in countries subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions (currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine). If that changes, we'll update this list.
3. Your account
We authenticate via email magic link. Don't share your magic link, and don't leave the app open on devices that aren't yours.
You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. If something looks off, email security@famcove.com.
You can delete your account anytime from Settings → Privacy. There's a 14-day grace period; after that, deletion is irreversible.
4. What you can do
Coordinate your family's schedule, childcare, and shared expenses.
Invite a partner or co-parent into the same family workspace.
Import school calendars from public sources we support.
Store personal documents in your private Family Vault.
Use the AI features (PDF/photo import, tone coach, retro, recipe planner) within your subscription tier's monthly quota.
5. What you can't do
Upload illegal content, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or anyone's data without their consent. Violations get reported to NCMEC and law enforcement.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the app or its API.
Use the app to harass, stalk, surveil, or coerce anyone — including a co-parent.
Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the app.
Bypass payment, quota, or rate-limiting controls.
Run automated tools (scrapers, bots) against our servers.
Use AI features to generate content that violates OpenAI's usage policy or U.S. law.
See the full Acceptable Use Policy at /acceptable-use.
6. Your content
You own everything you put into the app — calendar events, vault documents, messages, photos. We license your content only as needed to run the service for you (store it, display it back, sync between your devices).
You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to operate, display, and back up your content while your account is active. The license terminates when you delete your account.
We do not claim any rights to use your content for training AI, for marketing, or for any purpose unrelated to delivering the app.
You represent that you have the right to upload everything you upload — in particular, that documents you put in your Family Vault belong to you or are licensed to you.
7. AI features and disclaimers
The app uses AI (currently OpenAI's GPT-4o family) to extract events from PDFs and photos, score message tone, write your weekly retrospective, and suggest meal plans.
AI is wrong sometimes. Always verify dates, school closures, and medical information against the original source. We are not liable for decisions you make based solely on AI output.
AI quotas are per-family per-month. Hitting the limit pauses the features until the next month, or until you upgrade.
You can disable all AI processing in Settings → Privacy.
8. School calendar disclaimer
We aggregate school calendar data from the Kentucky Department of Education's public Open House portal, the Urban Institute Education Data API, and direct fetches of public school websites.
Always verify important school dates with your school directly. School calendar entries with a low confidence score are clearly labeled, but we don't guarantee accuracy of any auto-imported event.
9. Co-parent features
Features labeled "Co-parent" — including the tone coach, custody handoff log, message thread, and court-export PDF — are informational tools to help two adults coordinate. They are not legal advice.
The court-export PDF is a self-reported audit log of activity tracked in this app. Courts typically require sworn affirmation from the account holder before admitting it as evidence. Consult a family-law attorney about the evidentiary value of any export.
11. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, with notice unless the violation is severe (in which case we may terminate immediately).
Sections of these Terms that should survive (your indemnity to us, our warranty disclaimer, dispute resolution) survive termination.
12. Warranty disclaimer
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these disclaimers, so they may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
These limits do not apply to: gross negligence, willful misconduct, or liability that can't be limited under applicable consumer law.
14. Your indemnity to us
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your violation of these Terms, your violation of someone else's rights, or your unlawful use of the app.
15. Disputes and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The exclusive jurisdiction is Delaware state and federal courts.
EU/UK consumers retain their statutory rights under their local law. California residents see /california-privacy for additional rights.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes get at least 14 days' notice via email and an in-app banner. Your continued use after the effective date is acceptance. If you don't accept the new Terms, delete your account before they take effect.
17. Contact
Email support@famcove.com for general questions, privacy@famcove.com for data questions, and security@famcove.com for security issues. (Replace these placeholders with real addresses before public launch.)
