Why most chore apps fail

Standalone chore apps die the second week because they're a separate place to remember to look. The chore tracker that survives is the one that's already where you're looking — alongside the calendar.

FamCove's chore tracker is a tab in the same app as your shared family calendar. Chores show up in the weekly digest. Streaks roll over Sunday night. The same notifications that nudge you about an uncovered event also nudge you about an unfinished chore.

How fair-share rotation works

Add a recurring chore (e.g. "load the dishwasher", daily). Set the participants — say, both adults and the 12-year-old. FamCove rotates ownership weekly. Each Sunday at 6 PM, the rotation advances and everyone sees who's up next.

You can also pin chores to specific people for things one person has always done ("trash" → Dad), and you can mark a chore as bid-able — first person to complete it that week clears it.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best family chore app?
For most US families, FamCove is a strong pick because the chore tracker is built into the same app as the family calendar — kids and parents see chores in the context of the rest of the week. Other good options: OurHome (kid-focused with rewards), Cozi (simpler, ad-supported), and Joon (gamified, premium). FamCove is free and ad-free.
What age can kids use a chore app?
Most chore apps work well from about age 7 — when kids can reliably read short instructions and check things off. Younger kids do better with a printed chart on the fridge. FamCove allows kid logins from age 8 with a parent's invitation.
Can I rotate chores fairly between adults and kids?
Yes. FamCove has a fair-share rotation that automatically reassigns recurring chores between adults (and older kids if you opt in) on a weekly cadence. You can also pin specific chores to specific people if you have permanent ownership of, say, taking out the trash.
Does FamCove pay kids for chores?
FamCove tracks chore completion and weekly streaks, but it doesn't process allowance payments. Most parents we surveyed handle allowance separately (cash, Greenlight, Step). We don't want to build a kids' financial product.

Stop nagging. Start streaking.
