Your family events, in the calendar app you already use

FamCove publishes a live iCalendar feed for your household. Subscribe in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook — and your work meetings, doctor appointments, and FamCove family events all show up in one place.

Free on every plan · webcal:// + https:// · Auto-rotatable token

How the feed works

🔐

1. Get your link in /account

FamCove generates a unique URL for you the moment you sign up. It includes a long random token so only people you share it with can read your events.

📲

2. Subscribe in your calendar app

Tap the webcal:// link on iPhone — Apple Calendar opens with a Subscribe prompt. On desktop, paste the https:// link into Google Calendar's "Add from URL" or Outlook's "Subscribe from web".

♻️

3. Live updates, no syncing manually

Add a soccer practice in FamCove and it appears in your subscribed calendar on the next refresh (~15 minutes for Apple, hourly for Google). Delete it and it disappears the same way.

Why a feed instead of a sync?

We tried OAuth two-way sync. It was painful: every Google policy change broke something, and tokens silently expired without telling anyone. A read-only iCalendar feed is simpler and bulletproof:

  • Works in every calendar app — iCal is the universal standard. No "we don't support Outlook" footnotes.
  • Survives Google Cloud config drift — no OAuth tokens to refresh, no consent screen to maintain.
  • Read-only by design — you can't accidentally delete a family event from your work calendar's swipe-to-delete gesture.
  • Rotatable — if your link leaks, regenerate it from /account and the old URL stops working immediately.

Subscribe in three calendars

🍎 Apple Calendar

  1. On iPhone or Mac, tap the webcal:// link in your /account page.
  2. Calendar opens with a Subscribe prompt.
  3. Pick auto-refresh interval (15 minutes is recommended).

📅 Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar in a browser.
  2. Settings → Add calendar → From URL.
  3. Paste your https:// link. First sync takes 8-24 hours, then hourly.

📨 Outlook

  1. Add calendar → Subscribe from web.
  2. Paste your https:// link, name it "FamCove".
  3. Pick a color so it stands out from your work calendar.

Frequently asked

What is the FamCove calendar feed?

Every parent in your FamCove household gets a unique, secret URL that publishes all family events as a standard iCalendar (.ics) feed. Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and Outlook can subscribe to it — your existing calendar app shows FamCove events alongside your work meetings and personal stuff.

Is the feed live?

Yes. The feed reads from the same database as the FamCove app, so adds, edits, and deletions show up in your subscribed calendar within ~15 minutes (Apple/Google's polling cadence). No manual export needed.

Is the feed secure?

The URL contains a per-user secret token. Anyone who has the link can read your family events, but no one can see the link unless you share it. You can rotate the URL any time from Account → Calendar feed — old subscriptions stop working immediately when you do.

Can I subscribe in Google Calendar?

Yes. Google Calendar → Settings → Add calendar → From URL → paste your https:// link. Events appear within 8-24 hours on first sync, then refresh roughly hourly.

Can I subscribe in Apple Calendar?

Yes. Tap your webcal:// link on iPhone or Mac and Calendar opens with a Subscribe prompt. Apple polls FamCove every 15 minutes once you set the refresh frequency.

Does the feed include my co-parent's events too?

Yes — the feed is per-household. Both parents see every event, just like inside FamCove. If you want only your own events, use FamCove's owner filter when planning, then subscribe to the household feed for the bigger picture.

What happens if I leave the household?

Your token stops resolving any events the moment you leave. Subscribed calendars degrade silently to an empty feed (no scary error).

Do I need a paid plan to use the feed?

No. The webcal:// feed works on FamCove's free tier. We think every family deserves to see their schedule in their main calendar app, regardless of pricing tier.
